Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 - mail notification problem
There are many posts about this issue, but no solutions.
Issue:
I have configuerd email notification globally in the machine options of ABR11, and also tried configure it individually for a backup job.
Testing the configuration by using using the "send test-email" button works without any issue, and the email is received in the mailbox.
Problem is that none of my configured backup job sends an email notification
after finishing. The jobs are all working - no errors at all.

I have the same problem at several client sites and have spent some time researching the issue.
It seems that the problem only occurs if you configure email notification on an existing backup plan. When I configure notification during the inital setup everything works just fine.
A workaround that has been successfull on all my testing is to clone the plan that doesn't work. Delete the original, enable the clone and rename it to the original name. Notification should now work, and backup will continue to use the existing vault(s) without having to redo the initial backup job.

Hi Rayner!
Thanks very much for your tip - now it works perfectly!

Thanks Rayner we are also having this problem. Yet another ridiculous bug Acronis strikes.

Thank you very much Rayner. This was a huge help. Very much appreciated.

The fact that you have to go to such lengths just to have an email log sent is insane!
this software is rubbish.

Hello everyone,
Thank you very much for your comments and your valuable feedback.
We do not have any known issues where e-mail notifications fail if you edit the backup plan and change e-mail notification settings. I will forward your findings to our Testing Lab so that we can determine if it is a known issue in the software or is something system specific.
Just in case, we have an article that helps resolve problems with e-mail notifications in our software and I have forwarded your comments to our Customer Listening System.
If you need additional help please let me know.
Thank you.

Hello Anton!
It is devinitely a program issue because i set setup the email notification properly - see other thread with screenshots http://forum.acronis.com/forum/27027
Others had this done too. The point is that after set up the notification a test mail goes through properly but not after finishing a task with the proper settings.
The only solution is to clone a task as written above.

I've sent Support Central the Info Utility Logs, PCAP logs and screenshots. They are still reasearching the issue and I will report any conclusion in this thread.
The PCAP log confirms no SMTP-trafiic before cloning, and I also found that if you change the notification email address ABR will continue using the old one. Re-cloning the task solves this, which to me confirms that changes are not picked up by the management service upon saving.

Thank you Rayner, your solution worked.
I agree with the observation that this is just another ridiculous Acronis bug.

We recently started using Backup & Recovery 11 after new server install. Had the exact same issue. Rayner's fix worked. Thanks so much ;-)

I am trying Rayner's workaround on ABR11 but I cannot rename the plan after cloning and enabling it. I change the plan name under parameters, but the Save button is not available. I am logged in as Administrator. In fact, if I make ANY change I cannot save it.
Also, shouldn't the properties of the cloned plan show the email address to be notified, even before re-saving it? Mine shows blank, but if I bring up the notifications dialog, the address is there.

Please disregard my previous post. I am backing up to a UNC and I had to "wake it up" first by opening it in explorer, then the Save button became available. Acronis does not enable changing unless it can see the backup location, and for some reason it couldn't initially.
But I am still having the problem of the plan page showing no email address but the details page showing the correct address. I have tried cloning and also export/import and it will not work. The exported XML contains the correct address too.
