Bootable disc start-up time is excessive

Thread needs solution

Why do Acronis boot discs always take so long to start up? This is not just TIH2012 but as far back as I can remember.

I had to use the TIH2012 boot disc a number of times today and each time it took about 10 minutes to start up. Acronis Loader takes about 7 minutes to load and then the initialization takes another 3 minutes before I can do any work! Whew. Meanwhile I sit there twiddling my thumbs.

I tried rebuilding the boot disc but it didn't make any difference (and wasted a CD).

This is just a Linux shell, so what takes so long to get it going? Linux is supposed to be lightweight compared to Windows, no?

For comparisons I also had to use the boot disc for Easeus Partition Manager Pro (also a Linux shell) and it was read to go within one minute.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it something to do with my system?

Hello Joe,

Thanks for bringing this question up.

You're absolutely right: the loading shouldn't take that long. It looks to be a hardware conflict, but I cannot say for sure. Do you mind sending us Acronis Linux Report from the problem media?

We would also recommend to try the following in order to localize the issue, as it might be handing during initializing process of some particular device:

- switch ACPI and APIC off/on
- unplug USB, and firewire devices from the machine
- turn off all unused devices (like second NIC, unnecessary ports, etc) in Windows
- start loading the bootable media

If the process goes fine, it might be possible to localize the issue by plugging devices one by one.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you.
