Acronis OS Selector reports no OS present.
I have downloaded a trial version of Acronis Disk Director to a Hewlett-Packard xw4400 workstation with MS Vista as its sole OS. In exploring the Disk Director features I opened the Acronis OS Selector. It reports that I have no OS installed. Worse, now I cannot boot into Vista, and I cannot disable nor unistall Acronis Disk Director. The OS Selector has taken control of that computer. Any suggestions please?

Thanks, Alexander. This looks promising.
The Vista OS came pre-installed. So, first, I've got to get the Windows Vista installation disc from Hewlett-Packard. I guess there will be a few days delay until it arrives. I'll let you know how I get on after that.

The OS Selector came with the Acronis Disk Director Suite Trial Version 10.0, build 2,160. I am reluctant to open the OS Selector itself for fear of entering the same "bottomless pit" again. However, if you wish to know the build of the OS Selector, let me know. Now, armed with the Vista installation disk, I'll be able to handle with the remedial procedure.
My computer is functioning normally again. Many thanks for your help.

Hello Geoffrey,
Thank you for taking time to contact us.
We are really glad to hear that the computer is functioning normally.
I would like to remind you that in the new build #2239 the issue with the OEM versions of Windows Vista has been resolved.
.Thank you.

I have the same problem with a toshiba laptop. I have a recovery disk, not an installation disk. Will that do?

Hi, I have the same issue with my Toshiba laptop. I went and got the recovery disk iso and used it to bootre.exe /fixboot and /fixmbr and os selector still could not find Vista. So I reboot back to the recovery disk and did the Bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd and after returning to Vista it still could not find my OS. Any thoughts on what it could be? I would like to buy this software if it is going to work for me that is why I am trying the demo version out. For info this is Acronis Disk Director Suite® Trial version 10.0 (build 2,160). Hope you can help.

Did you download the DD trial version recently? If so, I'm surprised that Acronis still has it at build 2,160. The Vista detection problem was supposed to have been fixed in build 2,239 (I haven't tested it, though).
