Browse for backup not working as expected
I just uninstalled (using Cleanup) and reinstalled version 2012 build 6154 at the request of technical support who have been supposedly working on my backup issue for going on five weeks now. Yes, after five weeks of having me try different things, their answer is to once again uninstall and reinstall.
After reinstall, of course, none of my backups appear. I've tried to add them to the backup list using the "Browse for Backup" button. It allows me to browse for the backup, but after selecting a backup, it doesn't seem to do anything, even though Acronis True Image is using an inordinate amount of CPU (from 60-80%).
If I'm lucky, I am able to shut down TIH by closing it with the red X in the upper right, and restart it. In some cases, the backup now appears. In others, the program crashes and Microsoft Windows asks if I want to report it.
It would be nice if Acronis would show some sort of progress bar or "Working" symbol so I would know if it's actually doing something. It would also be nice to know if waiting hours for it to load backups using the "Browse for Backup" is expected behavior.

Technically, you don't need any task in that list except the ones you backup manually or on a schedule. Removing the task is NOT the same as deleting the task. Removing just takes it off the list and off the scheduler, but leaves the TIB files as they are. Deleting remove the TIB files as well. Not having a TIB file referenced in the backup list doesn't prevent restoring it at all.

OK, so I removed it, but now will the auto cleanup be smart enough to get rid of the old tib files or will I have to remember to go back and delete them?
Another question has arisen. Since reinstalling, I find that I am no longer able to mount old tib files as lettered drives. When I do so, it goes through the whole process, says that it successfully mounted, but then crashes the whole computer requiring a power down on the main switch.

No, auto-cleanup will probably leave some orphan files that you will have to clean up manually.
On the mounting thing, it looks like a driver installation issue. If you can live without that feature for a while, I'd wait until a new build is available to uninstall, cleanup and reinstall.

Upgrading to 2012 has been a nightmare. So many problems, I don't know if I should have a separate thread for each or not. I'm now considerably beyond the refund period, and sort of regret having given them the benefit of the doubt. I think I should have just asked for a refund and rolled back to 2009.
First, the registration did not work, despite cutting and pasting the codes right into the software. This required contact with tech support who had me install a patch just to get it registered. Then I fiddled with support for five weeks to get disk backups to work. Try this snapAPI, then this one, install new build, etc. Each time having to wait days between responses. All along the way, the thing has never really been stable, with frequent freezes, long pauses, and crashes. While I realize the wide variance in hardware and software makes it difficult to develop software such as this that just "works" for everyone. I'm really disappointed after having 2009 work so relatively well for several years only to find that this "upgrade" is nothing but a headache.
Since re-installing, I'm constantly getting crashes:

Try to uninstall, use the 2012 clean up utility, reboot and reinstall.
You might want to restore a backup when you had 2009.
