Deleting versions taking a LONG time

Thread needs solution

Some of my systems BU using TI 2012 to my desktop where I have 12TB of storage. As I move forward I decided to clean up and remove some of the old (no longer needed) BUs. On my wife's laptop I started TI, on the Backup and Recovery screen I clicked on the gear and selected "Explore and recover". In the window that pops up I right-clicked the oldest BU and selected delete. Now about 6 hours later the progress bar shows that it is almost 50% completed. I expected this to be almost instant.

The BU that is being deleted (not the entire set just one version) is an incremental.

Any ideas why this is taking so long?

There has been issues with deleting versions for a while. Some users reported that ATi could delete the wrong versions. There is nothing wrong or consequential with manually deleting the TIB files if you know what you do and delete whole chains.
To be prudent, you might want to first move the TIB files you want to delete to another directory on the same disk and then validate the new oldest backup based on modified dates. That will increase your confidence you didn't move the wrong files/chain components.
