File Backup reports 'link target was not backed up'.

Thread needs solution

I have a 'File Backup' configured to backup various folders from my C: and D: drives. One of the locations I am backing up is "C:\Users\Mark\Documents". Every time it runs, it adds 3 warning to the log :

"The following link target was not backed up: C:\Users\Mark\Music"
"The following link target was not backed up: C:\Users\Mark\Pictures"
"The following link target was not backed up: C:\Users\Mark\Videos"

Why can't it backup these folders? I am running the backup under the 'Mark' account, so it can't be a file permissions issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help,
Mark

Any chance those 3 folders are also part of the Documents folder so they really are being included as sub-folders off the docs folder. Have you mounted or explored the backup to verify its content?

Hi Grover,

Yes, those folders are being included already as you say. But how do I stop TIH generating a warning for them? All my data backups have warnings on them as if something went wrong.

Maybe I'm just worrying about nothing, seeing as the data is actually backed up...

They are junctions on Vista and later, so you have to either include them in backup as C:\Users\Mark\Music, for example, or add them to exclusions list ( not link targets, but the links themselves, like "C:\Users\Mark\Documents\My Music " ) with trailing slash or not, I don't know.
