missing operating system Windows 7

Thread needs solution

I cloned a Windows 7 notebook drive using True Image 11 Home to expand from 250GB to 500GB. Acronis said this was completed successfully, but the message "missing operating system" came up when I tried to boot the new drive. I tried recloning two more times with the same result. Any suggestions?

What type computer? What procedures did you use to do the cloning? If cloning, follow the procedures outlined in the item 8 at this link which is the Acronis KB article on cloning.

At this point, your new disk needs to clearned reset to unallocated. Boot from the TI Bootable Media CD and use the "Add new disk" option. Delete the existing partition on the new drive so the space becomes unallocated.

Summary of procedures.

Install the target disk inside the computer in normal boot position using same connectors.

Attach the source via some other connector such as an external enclosure or usb adapter/connector.

Boot from the TI Bootable Media CD

Run the Add new disk option and delete the existing partitions on the target disk.

Use Manual clone and adjust the sizes of the system partition  and/or data partition.

Do not change the size of any non-lettered partition such as system reserved, recovery or oem partitions.

When adjusting the size of the first partition, in the "free space before" option, be sure there is a 1 in the mb window. Type the 1 if necessary but be sure the windows is marked mb and not gb.

After completion, remove the CD and shutdown. Disconnect and reboot with only the new disk attached.
