ATI 2012, hangs on restore with "calculating"

Thread needs solution

I am happy with True Image Home 2012. The problem I have been having is the "calculating" lockup which others are having. My backup process however is very simple however. I have data on a internal hard drive separate from my system drive. I'm back up to a USB external hard drive. I use a incremental backup following full backup. The backup size is about 400 GB. The hard drive where the backup resides is about 1 TB.. I believe the application is creating good incremental backup after a good full backup-based on the files sizes. However I can not open these backups when I try to restore. I get the "calculating" message which goes on for a least 12 hours. I did re-create this task in True Image Home 2012. A similar task with True Image Home 2010 would restore correctly however. Thank you in advance. Any tips appreciated. Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for posting.

Let us try to localize this issue because it could be caused by hardware incompatibility or an issue with the backup. Please do the following:

1. Please make sure that you are using the latest bootable media 6154.

2. Point to the full backup instead of incremental and let us know what happens.

3. Copy the backup to a different location, if possible and try to select either full or incremental backup.

4. Can you open those backups in Windows when you double click on the .tib file?

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

Thank you. I re-created the backup task. Then I was patient. The directory tree eventually comes up. I noticed that Acronis uses up all of my 4 GB of memory on my Windows 7 ultimate machine. I believe I am running into disk swapping because of the memory requirements and that is making the process run very slow. I was able to resolve it. Much appreciated
