switching motherboards, but keeping raid 0

Thread needs solution

hi everyone!
i would like to upgrade my motherboard in my gaming rig, but its a bit complicated because it has a RAID 0 set up. with acronis true image home 2012, could i backup my raid 0 with all of my programs and stuff to an external drive, then switch my mobo, boot from the external drive, then restore my raid from the backup?

thanks
Gus

Restoring to dissimilar hardware is what you need. This is not a process for the faint of heart. YOu need the Plus Pack installed to create a new recovery CD that features UR. You will need the drivers of your new disk controller in their *.inf format (not exe) available to ATI during the restore. UR can fail for multiple reasons because many drivers will change. It is worth trying anyway, since it is your best alternative to a complete reinstall. Just be aware it is not a sure thing.

ok, i was also thinking of switching to a single SSD/HDD hybrid for convenience (because to be honest raid 0 is a pain in the **s). so to do that would i just clone my raid to the single drive, then boot from that?

many thanks
