Where's my universal restore option!
I'm running ATIH 2012 Plus pack, and my boot bedia even says plus pack when the disk is loading, but no matter what I try I do not get an option for a universal restore. I really need it! I made a full backup just to make sure because I read a complaint somewhere and the person was told it didn't work with continuous backups.

No help at all. I've already read that. Didn't you read what I wrote? I DO NOT GET THE OPTION TO USE UNIVERSAL REASTORE! How can I be any clearer?
I have 3 licenses so I've tried a couple of times on a couple of different computers to make the bootable media. The menu on the boot disk does not say (FULL VERSION) like it does in the KB, but the splash screen does show that it's the plus pack while it's loading. I just made an image using the boot disk, just to make sure and I still don't get the universal restore option when choosing to recover whole disks.
Perhaps I'm somehow doing the backup wrong? I made a FULL backup.
This is so frustrating...

1. Did you make a full disk backup, selecting the checkbox for the disk, rather than individual partitions? That will be a necessary prerequisite to using universal restore.
2. You'd better quickly become more polite to one of the most important volunteers in this forum, if you want help. Grover is an unpaid user, like the rest of us, so he does not deserve your attitude.

When attempting to do a restore, does this option not appear when selecting what is to be restored? This is covered in the prior link.
If you do not have such an option, I would suggest you do a repair install of both the regular version and re-install the plus pack.

He does when he asks me stupid questions that I've already answered. Like the post above... I know he's trying to help, but I already answered that TWICE now Grover. I DO NOT GET THAT OPTION.

Now, I understand your option is missing. Many in the past simply did not know where to look. My apologies for not knowing your option really IS missing.
The next things I suggest would be to go into the Add /Remove programs and un-install the plus pack found under P (not under Acronis). Then re-install the Plus Pack.
I would also consider going backup to your personal downloads section and open the downloads for the Plus Pack and download the ISO download file and burn the download to a new CD as an image and see if the new CD shows this option when simulating a disk option restore when using the CD as the restore vehicle.
The name of the iso download for the plus pack is
ATIH2012PP-6154_en-US.iso

Perhaps the plus pack iso download should be one of the very first things to do just in case the Recovery CD burnt after the Plus Pack install was not properly burnt.

I'm pretty sure I've tried the ISO but I know I have the latest version downloaded so I'll burn another disk and try again. Thanks for trying to help, and I apologize if I seem a little harsh, it's just that this was meant to be easier than it has been for me.
Just in case, I've also done one last thing I will try if this still doesn't work. I did a fresh install on my SSD (with the BIOS set to AHCI, as intended), installed all drivers, then exported the currentcontrolset from the registry. My intent is to use the windows repair tools to launch regedit and merge that registry hive, in hopes that it will load the proper drivers.
I somehow think this would be much easier if I could just selectively run my SATA ports in raid and AHCI at the same time. Alas, it's all or none (sort of... when in raid I can have like 4 or 6 while 2 ports are just regular ports... turn on AHCI and the ALL become AHCI) :(
I'll post back with news of my success or failure
EDIT 1: Still no option to use universal restore when using the .ISO image to make the disk and booting from it. Also the Menu still says Acronis True Image Home 2012, but does not say (FULL VERSION) like it does in the KB. The splash screen does say that it's the Plus Pack. I give up and will probably not pay for another upgrade again unless this issue is identified and resolved (not likely though, since I guess others are not having this problem?)

My purpose in asking that a new CD be burnt from the ISO was that the bootable media CD has to be created after the PLUS Pack is installed and the ISO I referenced is from the PLUS pack serials and not from the normal program iso listings. As previously stated, the type of backup has to be the full backup of the entire disk. The option you need only appears when booted from the plus pack CD.
If you are not successful at this point, create an official support request with Acronis (support along left margin) so you can get official help.
Good luck.

Well, no joy at all. Guess I'm atarting from scratch. So much for universal restore...

Michael,
One last shot before I quit--if you are interested.
Use the CD bootable media and create a full backup of your disk (all partitions) when booted from the CD.
Afterwards, use the CD and use the Restore/recovery option and simulate a restore until you get to the same screen as in post #4 above to see if the option you need appears.
Good luck.

WOW... Sorry he had so much trouble with Universal Restore... I have 2012 waiting to be installed, however, I have used UR with TIH2011 several times. Ported from several very dissimilar hardware platforms with Wonderful results... All I really had to do was restore the "Disk Image" to the new computer using the TIH2011 boot disk, select Universal Restore and be ready to load the necessary drivers on the new box.... Obviously you must have the drivers for the MB, vid cards, etc...ready... UR is a MUST HAVE Feature for those of us depending on our backup systems. You never know when you will have a totally blown computer and have to use new hardware.
I am still waiting for most of the TIH2012 problems to be resolved before loading it.
