Backing Up Everything Except OS

Thread needs solution

I am running TI 2009. I plan on loading Windows 7. If I want to back up everything on my hard drive except the current Windows XP operating system I currently have running what exact steps should I follow to insure everything i.e. applications get backed up in order to perform the clean install of Windows 7?
Thanks

Hello Rog3236,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]

If I correctly understood you (please correct me if I am wrong), you want to recover your current applications onto Windows 7. Please note, that you are unable to restore your applications separately, it is impossible to move the programs from your old operating system to a new one. Even if you try to recover all files that are related to the applications, you will be unable to modify the registry, that should be changed in accordance to the architecture of the programs.

You are able to restore your data files only. Therefore, I suggest you backup the entire hard drive and validate the archive. Then you will be able to restore the partitions that doesn't contain operating system. You will be able also to recover the necessary files and folder from the system partition (a partition backup allows you to recover files and folders from a partition backup archive).

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.
