Problem after Cloning c Drive

Thread needs solution

I cannot access any External Hard Drive(s) after after Cloning Primary drive C:/ xxxxx. Mu OS is
Win XPSP3.
I successfully cloned my primary drive CC:/ xxxxx. to a Seagate 250GB drive.with just one partition.
On restarting, I got message to "change jumpers". Not understanding, I carrried on and XP started OK. However I cannot now see in Windows Explorer the cloned drive or any of the three other external drives used for data storage.

Going to Windows Help and Support, I found that System Configuration / Services that these drives letters appear to have been switched off.
Is that the problem? If so how do I repair it, please.
If not any help will be aooreciated.

Did you clone to an internal drive and then have both in themachine when you rebooted after cloning?

I have a similar problem in that...I cloned my present hard drive(8gb) to a 80gb hard drive &
acronis says that my computer needs to be shut down and the jumpers reset(master to new hard drive)When I try to boot with the larger hard drive I get a HARDWARE ABSTRACTION LAYER FAULT and it will not boot...Is there something that I am neglecting to do?
I am using the same machine & motherboard as the old hard drive and cannot figure out why it does not work...Please assist me if anyone can...

Thanks for your comments. Yesterday, I had "an expert" in to sort it out. Basically, he says that I should have switched off the External Drive when asked to change the jumpers.

He has sorted the external drives which were no longer recognised by using Windows Disk Management facility and reinstalling each drive one at a time. No data was lost except I formatted the newly Cloned Disk and will try another way of getting a full back up.

I hope this helps. I am sorry for delay in responding.

I have at last recovered all drives and managed to make a full system backup in Secure Zone. Also I made a Recovery "disc" on a USB stick. Unfortunately I was unable to make a Recovery Disc on any CDRs after trying several different makes. In the past I have had no problem doing this on this computer.
Q1 Any ideas why I cannot make a disc when I can record on a USB?.
Q2 Will the Rescue disc(s) made a year ago work even though the the Secure Zone has been changed and is on a formatted and Acronis dedicated external drive?
