New version 2012 - How do I turn off notifications after every Synchronization check?

Thread needs solution

I upgraded to the 2012 (with plus pack) and using the new synchronization feature between two local folders and about every 30 seconds I see a popup notification regarding the synchronization even though I have not made any changes between the folders.

Is there a way to turn off the notifications?

Hello Steven, there is no such possibility at the moment. But we will consider implementing it in U1.

Really!?!?!?! I find it totally disruptive to my work (I am a developer also) seeing the popups all the time.

Please do put this into update 1...

Hello Steven,

Yes, I understand. we will correct it.

Please change it soon. The notification window every 2 minutes without any changes are terrible !

I just upgraded also and I am having the same problem. The constant notifications are so annoying and disruptive. If there is no way to turn off the notifications I am going to stop using the sync feature.

This is aweful functionality!! I have no idea who thought this was a great idea to bug people with notifications every 10 seconds or so. It is constantly scanning the folders to sync and as a result constantly notify of the scanning as well. Even when nothing at all has changed.

I had no choice, but to abandon file syncing. Very poor judgement in doing this and not making it a configurable option.

I'm adding this comment for all threads regarding the sync feature. The sync feature does NOT work period. I cannot sync locally and the program hangs. I setup sync between a home PC and a work PC. I was able to join the sync but nothing syncs. When I go online to check status (through Manage My Syncs), it shows only one computer name is is not the name of either PCs and shows no active share!! I created a sample text file on one PC and it would not sync.

I have screen shots of all and have already submitted to support. But, so far they have ignored me and still waiting for a response. The sync feature seems a like a gimmick at this point.

This is a must fix issue IMO. I have an update notification every 5 minutes or so with my work flow. Very distracting.

Exactly three months later and this is still not fixed althought there was an updated just days ago... To have a pop-up every time a file is synced and not to allow users to turn this horrible 'feature' off is just completely infuriating... thanks Acronis for adding to my stress level...

Thanks for raising this issue, Binary Poet. This kind of nagging nonsense interferes with the taskbar activities and is completely silly and useless. Who on earth thought this up? This is the sort of thing that a Beta tester should have vetoed immediately. I hope it dies a quick death with the next update..... please!!!!!!

What does "we will correct it" mean after 4 months?! Are you guys trying to do your best to lose credibility on purpose?

Hello,

Actually, in ATIH 2012 Update 1 we've significantly reduced amount of popup notifications during Sync work, but still we have an issue, that popup notifications cannot be disabled by means of Windows functionality, we have bug which addressed on Update 2 ATIHIIOXII-7526.
Besides, in our further projects we're going implement 'Notification management mechanism' in product. Thus, user can establish rules of notification in different cases. Here is corresponding Software Requirement ASTW-1052.

Alexander, I'm afraid I don't understand your Dec 25 posting. I have updated Acronis 12 and the annoying popups persist. Are you directing us to a new update or to a patch which fixes the problem? Or are you telling us that this will change at some undetermined 'future' date? Would you please address the issue with specifics? I am really not happy about having my mouse clicks fail because of your pop ups blocking the directions I'm giving the computer. It is VERY disruptive to workflow - when will it be FIXED?

Im not using Sync any more. I tried it, but i want to remove it / turn it off. I cant even find an option to disable Sync !! Please release a fix for this problem asap ! Thx

I've been waiting for six months for resolution. I think Acronis is tone deaf to a problem they cannot fix!

Hello Alan and Leo,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We really appreciate it.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience and we are constantly working on improving our products.

As soon as this issue is fixed we will update the thread.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Michael,

A) Your link for the latest update is out-of-date.
B) I have same problem with incredibly annoying pop-ups. I am using, 2012, and when I check "About Acronis True Image Home," it shows that I have update 2, build no. 7119, while your site shows the latest build as 7133. Moreover, 7133 shows as a Product Update from the My Products & Downloads section of My Account. I downloaded the 7133 exe file as instructed, but when I try to install it, I get the message that I already have the latest version of Acronis. So something is not working here, and I still have the damn pop-ups. Please advise.

Augeydoggy,

If you have the Acronis Plus pack, uninstall it.
Then, uninstall ATI,
Use the cleanup utility found here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545
Make sure to follow all instructions carefully, in particular do not let the utility reboot your computer. Reboot manually upon completion of the instructions.
Reboot.
Install the latest build that you have downloaded from your account.

Augeydoggy,

It is actually better to create new tasks after an update or an upgrade. This makes sure that your backup chains are created by the same software version. Ideally, you will want to move the existing TIB files to another directory for safekeeping, then let ATI run the new backup tasks. After a while, up to you, you can delete the older TIB files manually.
While you are at it, disable the "scan for existing archives" option in the backup list display options. This will avoid 2012 to "rediscover" your existing files.

It wasn't so bad as I expected. The synched files were of course all in place, and ATIH immediately knew the files were the same. I also decided to switch to differential backup from incremental for my main backup, and found that the settings I was using had almost filled the backup disk, so I will restart that all tonight with a fresh full backup.

Hello,

This topic il old, but I encounter the same problem. The notification appear every 2 minutes when I use Word or other program with an auto save... The programe save the file, and ATI detect the change and update the sync. The problem is the notification message, impossible to disable it.

Hello Mayzz03,

Try keeping Acronis True Image window minimized, but do not shut down the application completely. Notifications about synchronization do not show up when TrueImage.exe is running.

Regards,
Slava
