Does Advanced Server backup open files?

We are considering switching from Symantec Backup Exec to an Acronis backup solution. I think Advanced server will meet our needs except I was concerned whether it did open file backup. We will be using file backup to tape (not partition backup). With Symantec Backup Exec, we had to purchase an addon agent to be able to backup open files.

You don't need to buy anything in addition, we have this functionality included into the software. All you need is to enable snapshot for file-level backup in Backup Options (see more details in our web UserGuide), and the open files will be backed up without any problems. I would also suggest you to test the solution before making a decision, our trial versions a valid for 15 days, and has only these limitations.
