True Image Home 2011 - Not Responding Error Message

Thread needs solution

I recently received notification of an update to True Image 2011 which I downloaded and installed. Ever since then when I try to access the program it freezes and when I access Task Manager I get a Not Responding message against the program. I have to End Task to get the program to close. Today I can't even get to the main screen of the program!

Another issue is that I have scheduled a monthly backup of my hard disk (about 104GB) which seems to have worked ok for this month but because I can't get into the program Nonstop Backup (Time Explorer Folder) is now 352GB and I can't delete older information. As the external drive is 500GB it is getting near to being full.

I have tried to reinstall TrueImage2011_6696_en-US which was the program I was allowed to download from Acronis in February 2011 when I had major problems with True Image 2010. However I get a message that I cannot go back to an earlier version than the one recently updated. Can anyone suggest a solution?

You recently got a notice of an update to ati2011? Was the update ati2012?

Unistall ati from the control panel, then run the cleaner. then run the installer for the version you had that worked.

you can get the cleaners for ati2012 and ati2011 from here:

ati2011 http://kb.acronis.com/content/14871

ati2012 http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545

If that doens't work, then restore from a backup.

It's a good idea to use msconfig.exe before uninstalling and installing.

You should be able to download the installer for any version of ati for which you have registered the serial number -- log into acronis.com, go to Product Updates.

Hi Scott,

It was couple of weeks, maybe more ago, but I thought it was an update for True Image 2011 which is why I clicked on yes to install it.

By switching the computer off then on I've managed to get into the main screen and looked at the version installed. It's Update 3 (build 6942). Does this throw any light on the subject?

I would advise turning off any auto update feature in ati and if you want to install an update, then manually download the installer from the website, uninstall your current build, and then run the installer.

Sometimes updating works automatically or on top of an installed current version, sometimes it brings grief and sucks up a lot of time. Safer and faster to uninstall and install.
