Mouse and keyboard not working on boot disc

Thread needs solution

I have an evalutation copy and was on the verge of buying it when I had a disaster last night and was unable to recover my image. When I booted using the Acronis boot disc I got to the gui but couldn't do anything because neither the USB mouse or keyboard would work. I tried the key combinations on screen but nothing happened so it kept defaulting and going into a windows boot. Windows won't boot up so that is why I was trying to recover my image.

Apart from this problem there was a rediculous time limit of 12 seconds before it went into the windows boot so I ended up having to reboot 20 times before I gave up.

I am a new customer and by no means any kind of expert, so please take this advice for what it is. I have the same problem, but was finally able to find a solution.

-I am going to assume the recovery disc you are trying to use is the linux recovery (not the windows PE

- I had to do the following to finally get my mouse and keyboard to work in Windows 7 home 64 bit

-create a system restore first, just to be safe!
-I had to unplug ALL of my USB devices ... includiing external harddrives
-Then go into your BIOS and ENABLE the USB legacy setting
-save the setting change in your bios
-insert the recovery disc, and boot to disc.
-Your mouse should work and allow you to select the Acronis option
-Select that option
-Let it do its thing, and make sure you wait... because there is a bit of lag time until it finally opens the acronis home screen
-NOW PLUG IN ANY OF YOUR EXTERNAL HARDDRIVES
-Proceed to search for your backup
-From this point I can't tell you anything else on how to recover properly, because I have not needed to, or attempted do that yet

After your system is fully restored , you probably should consider going back in your bios, disable USB legacy support and save.

I would definitely wait until a more senior member at this forum gives you advice just to make sure.
