Is your "bare minimum" XP updated and current (SP3, for example)?

Which version/build of DD are you trying to install?

I have the latest version of DD.

Have win xp sp3 and the updates. Had to uninstall many .net framework versions because of lack of space.

Hello Eric, and MudCrab,

Installation file may be corrupted. To eliminate this possibility, check in file properties dialog, on 'digital signatures' tab if 'details' button tells you that 'digital signature is OK'. If not, installation file is modified (=corrupted)
