I LOST Dolby Surround in Media Center 2005 when I installed FULL 2010 home backup.

Thread needs solution

The first time I used Acronis True Image 2010 was an emergency and I only installed what was necessary to get the job done and it worked. Months later I thought for safety's sake I would create another image backup so I installed the WHOLE Software. BAD IDEA. I immediately lost the ability to playback television recordings with Dolby Surround. Absolutely no sound from the back speakers when replaying previously recorded Dolby Surround Programs. I DID have it with Live TY (which does not make sense since it too is a recording) and I could get Dolby Digital 5.1 and Surround from DVDs. I uninstalled the Acronis program. THE PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY. Wiindows XP Media Center Edition. I thought it was the Codecs used to decode the mpeg streams and I blamed Nvidea and Intervideo. They at least TRIED to help me. With Acronis. . . nothing. Now that I found out I also can't network my machine to a WIN7 machine Acronis is completely uninstalled. But the problem with Dolby Surround does NOT go away! Why would it work on Live TV which is recorded and immediately played back yet not play from previously recorded Dolby Surround . If someone out there could give me the registry fix for this I would buy Acronis for my entire Network. WIN7 promised Image backup but you need a huge disk drive to use it.

What exactly is WHOLE software, ans what is "what was necessary to get the job done"?

What exactly are you trying to play? What kind of source is it? How is the source stored? Is it a file? Is it a DVD/BD disc that you're playing on your computer? What is your sound card?

Actually... it doesn't matter! I don't think this has anything to do with Acronis True Image 2010. And this is not a forum for solving all your computer problems. These forums are specifically for problems related to Acronis products. If you still think this is caused by Acronis True Image 2010, then at least try to explain how this problem is connected to that Acronis product. Or try contacting the official Acronis technical support.

Hello Patrick, and Sameer,

Thank you for your comments.

Partick, I highly doubt that the issue is actually related to Acronis True Image Home 2010, as our software doesn't interfere with the drivers you've mention. Anyway, even if there were some low-level drivers conflict, it would be solved by uninstallation of our product.

Still I think it would be a good idea for us to check the logs, and your registry to make sure that it's not the cause. Could you please send me Acronis Info from the problem machine?

Thank you.
