Build 6029 locking-up system - Vista Business 64
Hi Guys,
Registered True Image Home 2010, installed ok.
Went to clone a drive, dialogue boxes came up so I thought it was running (albeit very slowly) after about and hour realised it had locked up everything, had to force a reboot.
Repeated all this a couple of times.
Tried to do a complete backup to external drive, actually managed to complete this on about the 5th attempt (after doing the same lock-ups).
Reinstalled everything, on first load a dialogue box came up saying I needed to backup, so I accepted went with it, it got to 33% when I realised it had locked up - needed a forced reboot.
Am I doing something wrong here? Is there any 'special' install instructions I missing out on or something?
Please guys, someone give me something (anything) to work on...please?
I'm losing the will to live here...

Thanks for taking the time to reply Scott, did everything you suggested, after I reinstalled and rebooted etc. I loaded ATI and the dialogue box stating I needed to backup came up. I went with it and the progress went straight up to 33% (where it left off last time it'd lockup-up). Well it's sat at 33% now for the last half hour so I assume it's died again.
I'd kept everything in msconfig disabled.
I'm right out of ideas...

Sorry to hear it. You should probably contact Chat. In the interim, have you tried finishing the install with out doing a backup and then creating the boot disk and see if you can do a successful backup with that? It's a somewhat diff version and runs under linux, so sometimes one works were the other doesn't. Not a solution for you, but a possible workaround

Hi, I have contacted Chat, 'spoke' to a guy for around half an hour, basically he got me to perform another backup, this froze the computer...eventually, after about 20 minutes, I was told that it appears I have a problem, it's outside of his scope so my details will be passed to their Expert Technical Team. I asked when could I expect to be contacted and was told straight away...that was 3 days ago.
Far from impressed...all I want to do is get my new backup software to backup my system, I'm not asking for too much here!

I'm having what sounds like very similar lockup problems in W7x64. It's discouraging because I didn't have those problems with TI11 nor TI2009 but the new TI2010 that "works with Windows 7" fails in Windows 7 when the predecessors didn't.
Sometimes it does run but more often than not it will lock up when running a backup, mounting an image and unmounting an image. Seems to work okay via bootable recovery media, though.

Hello all,
Scott thank you for attempts to solve the issue, its really appreciated.
Wardie and zrtom the issue concerning lockup of Windows 7 and Windows Vista using Acronis True Image Home 2010 build 6029 and 6053 is a known one but it has already been fixed. Here is similar thread with issue discussion.
To solve the issue, install a special driver update with fixes on the machine:
- Download SnapAPI Build 503;
- Unpack it and install with Disabled logging:
Let me know if the issue remains and I will be happy to provide you further assistance.
Thank you.

Thanks for getting back on this. I haven't been on here in awhile because overall for some reason TI2010 (with Plus Pack) has been working pretty well on W7 x64. Once in awhile it would seem to hang or lock up but if I was patient and let it continue, it would usually return to normal responsiveness. I don't use scheduler or any other features; I normally just make system images and validate system images.
For what it's worth, I also had Disk Director 10 (build 2160) installed and working on this system.
So yesterday I see the SnapAPI Build 503 update and thought I would give it a try (bad idea). The SnapAPI.503.msi appeared to install fine. I rebooted just to be sure. Now TI2010 won't start at all. It goes through UAC approval, tries to start but doesn't do anything. Process explorer shows Trueimage.exe briefly but then it disappears.
Through Control Panel I've tried repairing the install of SnapAPI503 as well as tried uninstalling the SnapAPI. Same thing, TI2010 won't start.
I could try a System Restore or I could try using true_image_home_cleanup.exe but what happened in my case appears odd and I thought I would first present my findings here to help in your development of the next update to TI2010.
Is it possible that I had relatively good prior success with TI2010 because DD10 was also installed? Or could it be related to having Plus Pack installed? I just wanted to add to your database in getting this product back on track.
Lastly, it is a little unclear between posts from Acronis Reps on here and the KB article for the true_image_home_cleanup.exe (KB7533) whether to try the Windows Uninstaller first, then the cleanup utility or whether the cleanup utility alone (along with Devcon and the Windows Installer CleanUp utility) will do a "better" or more complete job of removing Acronis products.
And last lastly... are you getting close with the TI2010 update beyond build 6053? If I end up reinstalling, I might just wait for the update.
Thanks.
