Unmount results in deletion of image file
I unmounted an Acronis image file. Now the image file does not appear in the file system. I did not intend to delete the image file. I just wanted to unmount it. Is there any way to get it back?

Kevin,
Can you describe the methods you used to perform the unmount?
Did you use the "un-mount" menu option from the Tools & Utilities menu?
or
did you RIGHT click on the mounted drive letter virtual disk and choose the un-mount option?
or
?
Just to clear things, you might try the "un-mount" option from the Tools Menu and that might help to clear settings if there is a conflict.
Please report your results because this deletion of backups via the un-mount command has never been reported before.

Thanks for your reply. I tried rebooting and the image file is still missing.

GroverH, thanks for your reply. The method I used to un-mount is "RIGHT click on the mounted drive letter virtual disk and choose the un-mount option". Image file is still missing. I have tried a couple of recovery applications (TestDisk and PhotoREC). But the image files they detect/recover are not viable.

Just for the heck of it. Open Windows Disk Management and see if it might be there without a drive letter?
No, never mind. I was confused for a moment.

i went to unmount in the tools and utility tab, then i tried to uninstall acronis and it said i had to be an administrator.... i ran the acronis removal tool and followed step 1 and 2 then my computer rebooted and bluescreened on the loader screen with a 0x0000007B.....
so much for trialing the new 2012 version :-(

That's my log attached above and was obtained via the help section.
Obviously I've uninstalled the product now but that was the log I obtained when my backup disappeared
