ATI 2011 Error on restore (ReqBlocks miscalculated)

Thread needs solution

All,

I am having a big problem here. Quick rundown.

I have been making incremental backups (Using bootable CD ONLY). I have the original Full backup and then three incremental backups.

Today I tried to restore the original Full backup and with a second of the restore starting there is a message that the restore failed. In the log file it reads

"Internal error: ReqBlocks miscalculated (0x70001); Tag = 0x89D94B01B483DD39"

I then tried the first incremental and got the same error.

The third and forth incremental work fine. Is there any way to get the first two to work again?

(BTW all errors are the same whether in the bootable CD or in the windows interface. Running the latest build (6942 of ATI 2011 Home).

I have attached the log file.

Bryan,

Boot the computer on the windows installation CD, get to a command prompt, and run chkdsk /r on the disks.

I have run it on both the disk that is the target as well as the disk holding the image as you didn't mention to which you were referring. No change. Also I wanted to point out that if you meant the target disk (which I believe you did) then remember I said the second and third incremental restore just fine.

Thank you

You mean that, in the *same chain*, the full and the first incremental do not restore, but the third and the fourth do?

Are you positive that the third and fourth are partial backups? I find the situation very unusual...

Can you validate the first incremental? This will validate both the full and the first.

Yes, all four files (backups) are in the same chain.

Rebuild.tib = Ful
Rebuild1.tib = First Incremental
Rebuild2.tib = Second Incremental
Rebuild3.tib = Third Incremental

Actually, they ALL pass validation. And yes I can completely restore Rebuild2 and Rebuild3 but I get the error I posted in the opening post when trying to restore Rebuild.tib or Rebuild1.tib.

Perhaps the "issue" has been replaced in the Rebuild2.tib file and so it never has to go the Rebuild.tib file (where the error lives)?

Bryan,

You are facing a rare case... I have no idea of what is going on there. One thing to try is to copy the backup files onto another disk and try the restore from that new disk. Sometimes this procedure solves some validation issues (that you dont' have, I know). Worth trying...

Ok, tried and copied all four backups (45GB) to a different location. Exact same problem. Full and first incremental both fail within seconds of starting with the error in the opening post. Incremental three and four work just fine.

Bryan,

I am running out of ideas. You can/should contact Acronis support. Support for recoveries is free.
