how to access files in an encrypted archive (.tib) file? - True Image 10 Home

Thread needs solution

I had a drive failure on a Windows XP machine. Good news is that I have a recent Full backup. Bad news is when I try to open the archive on a new computer it says 'password needed'. I created the scheduled task several years ago and don't recall entering an encryption password.

I GREATLY appreciate any help that you can provide!

If you password protected the backup, then you will need the password -- password protection would be useless were it not for this feature.

If you didn't give the backup a password, then try just hitting enter when prompted for a password.

Hello Curt,

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here.

Usually the product starts to request the password in case it either cannot properly access the backup or read its contents, so it assumes that it lacks of credentials.

Most probable cause is an archive corruption. Please check this article, it has the solutions listed, and might help to solve the issue.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you.

Thank you.

Curt,

Try to access the archive with the recovery CD delivered with or produced by the ATI version/build that produced the archive file.
