Build 6029 Opinions Please
I have been using Acronis products for years and like them.
I bought ATI 2010 for my new 64-bit Windows 7 laptop. I have used Acronis imaging software before and have loved it, but I never felt so nervous restoring as I did today. To cut to the chase, it succeeeded as far as I can tell, but there are many things that I was unsure about in setup. Is there a good tutorial out there for beginners?
I am using the newest build (6029) and dont seem to have problems --unlike others that I am reading in this forum. I am only going to use this to make full backups. I I revert to previous build am I rsiking anything...gaining more reliability? If I revert to previous build woudl it theoretically restore an image created with bukild 6029?
Is it best to restore from Windows or straight from the boot disk? I am used to recovering my XP machine images from Windows
Is there a best practice in terms of imaging? Is there an advantage using one-click over adjusting all settings manually?
What is "recover disk signature"?. I did not do this this morning during recovery. Should I?
Thanks. Any tips or advice are welcomed

Would either of you tell me if the Validate feature is in the menu and if so in which menu item - both in the installed software and in the boot CD?
Thanks.

This doesn't answer your question fully but I will say that I don't see validate as an entity with TI running in Windows. It appears that the only way to get to it is when creating a task. I may not have looked thoroughly though. Will checkout the Rescue Media CD. There is another way to get it. In Windows My Computer go to a saved TIB file. Left click to highlight it then right-click on it. Select Archive. Three options are given, Mount, Recover and Validate. See the attached jpg. I have noticed that with this latest build (6029) when trying to exit True Image the screen seems to freeze and it takes a long time to close. It eventually closes but the delay seems to be about five minutes.
EDIT: Checking the bootable CD the result is the same. No direct way to access Validate. To my way of thinking this is a big mistake. When I first installed build 6029 I didn't see any problems with it. The more that I use it the less impressed I become. Seriously considering going back to build 5055.

Ah, so that's where it is hidden ... very sneaky ... like the Help/About thing. I'll check to see if the same thing works when booting via the CD.

In the Windows version from wihtin the GUI th eonly way is by making a validation task. The entry to which is in the menu choices across the top of the GUI.
By the way in build 5055, you can now get to the ABOUT menu, by clicking on the down arrow next to the question mark icon, from there you can choose the About item.

When I look in the Recovery section, I can right-click on any images and Validate shows up in the pop-up menu. It's also available on the toolbar. (This is in build 5,055.)
I think the last build of TI 2009 also added the down arrow for the About box.

I'd forgotten that, also the validate option is in the menu across the top as well, see attached PNG.

Are any of you who have good experiences with build 6029 running Windows 7 64-bit?
