VMP7 - Restore mail level from Exchange
Hello,
i post because i have a problem for restore mailbox at mail level.
The virtual machine is mounted successfuly but when i select a mailbox in the browser to restore a mail, it's very very very slow to load the content of the mailbox. My mailbox is only 200 Mb.
Is it normal ? I wait a long time without have a result.

Hello thx for your answer.
I highlight the mailbox from which i would restore some contents but it loads without stop.
I don't have never see the content of the mailbox ...
Normally to do a mail level backup there is a small soft installed on the server at the first backup.
How can i see if this software is installed on my Exchange server ? I don't see anything on the server called "Acronis" or orther in the file browser.
I'm very sad, it's impossible for me to have a list of contents of my mailboxes :(

Answer: No there is no software installed (this is assuming you have vmProtect7 running as a VM. YES? Basically it relys on MS built in VSS I believe.
Question:
- Is it backing up without Error and I also ASSUME you have the "Exchange Aware" ticked as part of the backup?
- What Version of vmProtect are you using? Make sure you are using version .5155 (US_ENG) version.
Did you run the SIDE TESTS I noted above? That will tell you a lot i.e. whether it is indeed backing up anything at all. Pointless trying to look for mailbox content if it can't even restore the mailbox itself.
Look you could call Acronis Support however I am only initially making suggestions here as I can guarantee you the first thing they will ask for is ALL the logs...........you'll then have to wait and wait. It might be something simple so happy to make suggestions? You need to test though.

thank you for your help.
I use vmp7 with the virtual appliance. My build is the last .5155 (FR version).
I try the tests that you suggest but without result.
I highlight the mailbox from which i would do a restore of mail content.But the content don't load in the window.
I've tried on one of our customer with the same build, I've the loading of the content correctly.
In our backup's log i don't have any error, the result of the backup is always successful.
Thank your for your suggest maybe i would try to contact the support team.

When you say without result. What does that mean? I assume you mean the PST file was empty?
If Bored: Download and install the en_US version. Install it as a second Virtual Machine (You can have both). Now try restoring your current Exchange using it. Test a mailbox restore as its quicker.
Reason: There are know bugs in the English & German versions, I can't comment about the French.

when i say "without result" i explain that i have the small icon of loading in the folder field indefinitely.
On my customer it's exactly the same build than me (5155 Fr) and it works.

For Testing: I have three AcronisAppliances installed as:
Here is what I found. I did two seperate backups to different locations using.
US_ENG (build 7.0.5155) AND EU_EN(build 7.0.5155)
both report successful. Restoring a mailbox with either results in Empty PST.
My Third install is US_ENG (build 7.0.5144) nb........note the earlier version.This DOES restore the all Mailboxs correctly.
NOTE: I did NOT use this version to create a backup withand only used it to test restore both of the 5155 backups.
Conclusion: This was noted in another Post somewhere.
To Sucessfully restore a mailbox, use build 7.0.5155 to backup and for restoring use build 7.0.5144 to restore.
Adehis Adehis: FYI: I also tested "Mailbox Content" this worked fine as well.
Others may have different results (as I did with another Server)

Hello,
update of my situation.
Today i have been broswed the mailbox content. (Maybe after a long time of loading).
But when i make the restore with the 5155 build, i get the exe with the content but the pst file is empty OO
No mails into my pst.
What's that ?

As noted above........try using build 7.0.5144 to do the Mailbox restore. Don't use this build for the backup though.
