[DUPLICATE] Fatal error installing and uninstalling ATIH 2012 build 7119

Thread needs solution

On the install of ATIH 2012 build 7119, it was very near completing but ended with an error. The msi txt file is attached. There are two "Return value 3" instances in the file:

Attempts to uninstall get very close to completing, and then rolls back. It appears to encounter the same error. The lines leading up to its "Return value 3" are:

I have tried installing, repairing, and uninstalling several times, and even tried going back to build 6154, all with no luck. At this point I have a "broken" ATIH 2012 that I can't get working or uninstall...quite frustrating.

Does anyone know what steps to take to either repair or uninstall (so I can try a clean install) ATIH?

Is anyone else seeing an error like this one?

Please see this Thread for installation issues.

Heligeek,

I don't have the link to hand, but search in the KB for TrueImage 2012 cleaner, download and run this, reboot and see how you go.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you very much for your posts. We really appreciate your solutions as always Colin B.

Please accept our apologies HeliGeek for the experience and holdup caused by the installation issue. I will be very glad to assist you with the matter and provide you with the appropriate solution.

The issue seems to lie with the installation of a module referred to as Acronis Backup Archive Explorer. The installation of the latest update release of Acronis True Image Home 2012 might have encountered trouble removing this very module prior to attempting to install one afresh. As a solution, I kindly ask of you to check to see if any Acronis devices appear in the tree structure in Device Manager, located in the Control Panel. If you do notice any Acronis devices, please remove them by right-clicking on each device and choosing to Uninstall it.

Upon successfully performing the removal of the devices, please attempt to reinstall Acronis True Image Home 2012, build number 7119. Provided that your installation completes successfully, you may resume with your backup, recovery operations as normal.

However, if there aren't any Acronis devices present in Device Manager for you to uninstall; or, despite performing the above steps, you still encounter the same issue during installation, please create a System backup from the Bootable Rescue Media, and then proceed with the deletion of Registry keys and strings from Windows Registry so as to remove all traces of Acronis SnapAPI drivers from your system. Please see this Knowledge Base article on how to delete keys and strings from Windows Registry.

Once you remove the drivers from your system, you may proceed to install the latest update build anew, and continue with your day-to-day backup and recovery tasks and more.

We apologise for the inconvenience resulting from this installation issue, and appreciate your efforts to carry out the simple steps above.

Even after completely removing Acronis device drivers from your system, you still have difficulties during reinstallation, please kindly contact Acronis Customer Central for additional assistance. You may find detailed instructions on contacting support from this Knowledge Base article.

Kind regards,
