Acronis 2011 restore speed

Thread needs solution

Hello everyone,
I have created an image with maximum compression. The size of the image is about 150 GB. Now I am restoring the image by 1 GBit/s network. The progress of the process is about 25 percent and the program shows that the restoring will last 4 to 5 hours. I want to finish the restore as soon as possible.
Is it better to stop it and copy the image file to an external disk drive (Windows 7 says that the copying to the USB HDD will last 45 minutes) and start a new restore or let it finish copying by network? What is faster? USB or 1 GBit/s network (directly connected from notebook to notebook) ? By the way: The capacity utilisation of the network connection with Acronis True Image Home 2011 is only about 1-3%. Is that normal?

You could try to tweak your adapter settings to maximise the utilization in Windows, but there are a lot of factors at play. When you restore, you go through the Linux environment, and the Linux drivers are a big factor.

If you can restore from a USB disk, you should be able to see about 20-30MB/s.
