Complete Uninstall (No registry remnants)
I have just completed a ATI Home 2012 trial.
I think I would like to uninstall it.
I have been reading about how difficult it is to COMPLETELY remove ATI from a system, particularly with the newer versions (I presume that would be 11 & 12). Without going into specifics and accusations, I'd just like to know if the good people here in this forum who have helped me here in the past can point me at an uninstall tool, or an uninstall method, over and above the standard Windows uninstaller, that will get all ATI leftover/remnants off of my system?

Hello Pat,
Thanks for the fast reply.
Question for you... is the CleanUp Utility (if chosen) meant to be used in place of the Add/Remove method, or in addition to Add/Remove?
The instructions ("If the product fails to be removed using this way, then the special Acronis True Image Home 2012 Cleanup Utility can be used to uninstall it") aren't clear to me in that regard.
For example, if I were to decide to use the CleanUp Utility, should I start with that, or should I start with Add/Remove?
Any personal advice or observations are always welcomed.

Start with the Add/Remove, reboot, then use the cleanup utility. Be sure to follow the directions carefully.

Some other questions (in keeping with the very good advice to follow directions carefully, which I always do!):
The Cleanup Utility directions state,
"If you have Acronis Startup Recovery Manager activated, please deactivate it before using the Acronis True Image Home 2012 Cleanup Utility", and
"The utility does not remove Acronis Secure Zone. If you have Acronis Secure Zone, please remove before using the Acronis True Image Home 2012 Cleanup Utility".
So my question is this... the 30-day trial I have has expired and the program is not accessible.
How do I know if I have Acronis Startup Recovery Manager activated?
And the same goes for Acronis Secure Zone, which I must remove before using the Acronis True Image Home 2012 Cleanup Utility.
How do I know if I have Acronis Secure Zone?
In addition, right now, in Services, I see:
Acronis Nonstop Backup Service
Acronis Scheduler2 Service
Acronis Sync Agent Service
Their startup type is Automatic. Should I stop them and change them to Manual or Disabled prior to Add/Remove, or leave them alone?
In Task Manager I see four Acronis processes running:
schedhlp.exe
TimounterMonitor.exe
TrueImage.exe
TrueImageMonitor.exe
Any suggestions about these processes and services in regards to uninstalling an expired copy of ATI 2012??

If the ASRM is active, you see the F11 option from ACronis when you boot.
The recovery CD will show you if you have an ASZ when you backup your computer. If you have one, you can remove the ASZ from the recovery CD.
You don't have to tweak the services to uninstall.
Yes, uninstall first from the control panel, after you have checked the ASRM/ASZ stuff.
After uninstallation, reboot and then use the clean up utility.

Any opinions on using Revo Uninstaller Pro to handle this task instead of the Cleanup Utility?
Revo will first use the Windows uninstaller, then search for and remove remnants.
I am halfway tempted to use it instead, but prefer to hear opinions from users here.

I use the Revo Pro to monitor and remove TrueImage.
If you buy the Pro version and if you use Revo Pro to monitor the install and then use Revo to do the un-install,
it will find most remnants.
If you also use the advanced mode at the same time, you wlll be provided with options which the user must checkmark or authorize to delete and the user must press the delete option. in order for the deletes to actually occur. In my first usage, I checked what was to be deleted and click ok without clicking the delete button so user must be attentive to the prompting for a good removal
So if the user is attentive and checks all the boxes and authorizes the complete delete,
THEN YES, Revo will do a 99% un-install.
If you run the Revo a 2nd and 3rd time, looking just for the word Acronis, it will find a few more explorer entries--menu type items. Then the 99% will become a complete removal.
Be aware than any time you are doing a cleanup or an un-install, it is possible for your system to get messed up and not reboot. I always make a practice of having a good and complete current backup before installing or uninstalling any major software.
I find that Revo Pro to do a more complete removal-(as compared to the Acronis cleanup utility) -especially if you are not going to re-install the same program.

Thanks for the reply, GroverH.
You know, I was just looking more closely at the Cleanup Utility, and I see that it says:
"If you have Windows 7 and Windows integration enabled to substitute the Windows Backup and Restore feature with Acronis True Image Home 2012 backups, please disable the integration in the product first."
Problem I have with that is my 30-day trial expired and the program is not accessible. Not good, huh?
This could lead to problems, I imagine.

Screeno,
The integration option doesn't occur unless you specifically ticked the integration option under the help menu.
The same with the Secure Zone and Acronis Startup Manager, if you didn't specifically enable them they won't be on your system.
You can check whether you have the SZ on your system by opening up Windows Disk Management, the SZ will appear as a FAT32 (by default) partition with no drive letter but with the label 'Secure Zone'.
