Build 7119 - Program Does Not Remember Sort Order for List of Backups Under Backup and Recovery Tab

Thread needs solution

Under the "Backup and Recovery" tab, by default, the list of backups is sorted by date. You can use the "Sort By" dropdown at the top of the Backup and Recovery Tab to sort by name. If you do this, the list of backups will be correctly be sorted by name, but the program will not remember your choice.

Problem:
If you exit the True Image program and restart the program, the list of backups under the Backup and Recovery tab will be sorted by date. (the "Sort By" dropdown will still be positioned on sort by name)

Greetings techjpb,

Thank you for posting on our Forum. I will be glad to address your issue.

In Acronis True Image Home 2012, the Sort By function as a rule should save the settings and remember the backup order the next time the program is started up. If the Sort By function does not properly save the settings, then we will have to submit this as a known issue in our issue tracking system for our Development team to work on this depending on the volume of demand determined by the number of submissions of the very same issue.

Fixes that are applied are released with the future build releases of our products, and therefore, what I may suggest at present as a possible temporary workaround is to update to the latest build of Acronis True Image Home 2012 by downloading the latest build from your account and installing it anew. Alternatively, you may uninstall the product and reinstall it to see if that has an effect on the issue in question.

Should you opt for the latter option, you may wipe your system clean of Acronis True Image Home 2012, and in turn, reinstall the product accordingly. You may use our Cleanup utility to perform this operation, available from this Knowledge Base article with the respective instructions to follow and precautions to take during the process of wiping the product from your system.

Please kindly notify me of the resolution of the issue should the reinstallation operation help correct it as desired.

We apologise for any inconvenience resulting from the dysfunctionality of this feature, and do hope that it has not affected your operations to a significant degree.

Should you have any further questions, please let me know at your earliest convenience. I will be happy to offer my assistance.

For any other questions regarding our products and services in general, you may contact Acronis Customer Central, and take a quick look at our Customer's Handbook for more information on contacting us.

Kind regards,

Volkan

I upgraded from TIH 2009 to 2012 build 7119 (latest build) on 6-30-2012 and see the same issue. It's annoying, but something I can live with.

What bothers me most about this is that it seems to be indicative of poor design and incomplete testing. This is such a simple thing, how can it not work correctly?

So far, in the 4 days since upgrading, I've found other issues that really concern me about this version. I'll post about those in other topic threads.
