ATIH 2012 More than 100% complete, but not finished

Thread needs solution

In the task bar, hovering the cursor over the ATIH icon shows:

Acronis True Image Home: 101% Complete

The status window, when opened shows Time left: calculating... (see attached image)

How can a backup be over 100% complete? What is this program doing? Should I cancel the backup?

Update: After closing the status window, and then re-opening the status window, the completion bar is showing 0% complete. (see 2nd image attached) Help!

Robert,

Acronis True Image (ATI) is not very good at accurately representing either the time necessary to complete a backup, the amount of progress, or the status (upon cancellation).
In doubt, you can safely kill the Acronis processes or simply reboot the machine. Be aware that any backup that was started will be deleted or invalid. So you might have to cleanup some files.
In general, let ATI do its thing until the elapsed time becomes outrageous from an implied bandwidth perspective. For example, a USB 2.0 connect should allow a backup of a local disk at about 25-35MB/S, a wireless N connection at 15-25MB/S, an eSata connection 65-75MB/S (your mileage will vary). Backup of remote data would reduce this performance obviously.
A backup size, at normal compression is about 40-95% of the data being backed up. Lower range for an OS like Win7 all by itself, higher range if the backup contains a lot of already compressed file format content (videos, movies, pictures, music, PDF, ZIP, programs, games, etc.).
If you do validation right after the backup, double the time.
So you can estimate the time needed for backup.
