Does True Image Home 2012 really support NDAS?

Thread needs solution

I got a NDAS drive, connected it to my network, installed the driver. Windows has absolutely so problem with it (mount it and read and write to it w/ no problem). However while starting from True Image Home 2012's Startup Recovery Manager, it can't be read. Here are the steps that I performed:

1. Restart the computer.
2. Hit F11 for Startup Recovery Manager
3. Click OK in the Enter Linux kernel command line dialog with the default "quiet"
4. Select Acronis True Image Home
5. Select Recovery
6. Click Browse for backup...
7. Select Mount NDAS device
8. Enter the NDAS device ID
9. Click Connect

Then Startup Recovery Manager completely hangs (no response when clicking anywhere, doesn't even response to Ctrl-Alt-Del). I have to reboot the computer using the reset switch.

I tried entering the Write Key, it hangs just the same.

I also tried the boot CD, with the same result.

Does anyone have any idea how to diagnose this problem? I tried taking out the "quiet" switch on step 3. All it did was printing more stuffs out to the console when it started, but then dropped me to the Linux prompt.

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive.
e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

Mine isn't a NAS drive; it's a NDAS and it doesn't use an IP address.

Given that there is a button labeled "Mount NDAS device," I suppose that it's supported, no?

EDIT:

*** The following original post is incorrect, 2012 DOES support NDAS ****

The Linux based F11 Startup Recovery Manager and the Linux based Rescue Media do not support the proprietary NDAS protocol (usually LPX), but with the Acronis Plus Pack and the creation of WinPE Rescue Media (with the NDAS Windows device drivers injected into it), the True Image Rescue Media could then use the NDAS for backup and recovery. There would be no way to use the F11 Startup Recovery Manager though.

Well, OK, that's fine if it doesn't support NDAS, but why is there a "Mount NDAS device" option for me to enter all those NDAS device option and then just hangs? Shouldn't the button be just greyed out and not clickable? This sounds to me like a bug and not a "feature not available" situation, IMHO.

Kenneth,

After re-reading the 2012 documentation, I have learned that 2012 IS supposed to support NDAS. I was wrong in my post concerning both the F11 and Rescue Media based on Linux.
