cloning my hard disk
Hi,
I have a clicking sound from the hard disk of my laptop and today bought the True Image 2013 version. Wish to ask if it is possible to clone my internal hard disk to an external one so then when replacing the internal hard disk to a new one I will re clone from the external one back to the new internal hard disk. Is this possible?
If yes will all the programs and applications and all files be installed and restored as it is in present?
If all this is possible can someone tell me the all the procedures step by step for doing all the above please?
Thanking you in advance.
Melchior

All the items listed could be helpful but
If restoring to same size disk, item #2 would apply.
If restoring to a different size disk, item #1 would apply.

The internal disk is 640GB and the external one is 640GB too. So if I use the disk Back up instead of partitioning should be ok if I understood well.

I did the backup on an external drive. Now if I make the clone on another external hard disk and then after cloning say if I connect this cloned hard disk to another laptop. can I use this external one instead of his internal hard disk so to use the second laptop with all the applications and programs as the old laptop. until I replace the internal hard disk on the old laptop.
The problem is that the external hard disk is 320GB and the faulty one is 640GB. Can it be cloned the same way?
Hope you understand my English.
Thanks

No. Windows will not allow you to boot and run Windows from an external HD.
Use Backup, not Clone, as I already explained.

I did back up thanks to your help.
Now what should I do when changing the internal hard disk with a new one?

You would install the new HD, boot from the bootable Recovery Media (Rescue Media), and Restore the full disk backup from the external drive to the new HD. Check out the tutorials and guides linked from the left margin of the forum. For example,
Grover's restoring guide:
