Restore to a laptop (from PC) with a later edition of True Image

Thread needs solution

My backups were done with True Image 2009 on to an external USB HDD. I had made a bootable CD when installing 2009 version. The PC's hard disk (W7 Home Prem 32 bit) seems to have destructed itself so I wish to restore the backuped data to my laptop running W7 (Home Prem-- 64 bit.) Is this possible?---backup with 2009 version and restore with 2013 (upgrade) version? Trial 2013 version refused to run on the laptop as the laptop has "Dynamic" drives. Version 2013 AND 2013 Plus Pack can deal with Dynamic drives. 2013 upgrade version and Plus Pack have not yet been installed. Many thanks in advance for any advice.

You will need the Plus Pack on top of the 2013 upgrade to restore since you have (a) dynamic disk (b) dissimilar hardware situation.

If your using the laptop is temporary, you might want to consider converting your backup to a VHD file and mount that file into your laptop. You will have access to your desktop "hosted" by your laptop.

Thank you Pat L--good to know that I can restore ok. As far as the use of the laptop is concerned, the jury (a financial one) is out at the moment as to whether the 5year old desktop is to be replaced or not!! Many thanks for your time and assistance. It was a strange fatal illness for the desktop HDD as suddenly at bootup there was no display and the BIOS bleeps told me that the video was the problem. I tried a replacement (borrowed) graphics card-no joy then replacement memory-no joy so the HDD was removed and via a caddy I managed to copy the .tib files of data on to my laptop. I had only just done that when the said HDD "disappeared". So we are going to try to rescue the HDD via 'resurrection' software.
