Installation problem - Unable to remove Plus Pack 2011

Thread needs solution

I have been using "ATI Home 2011 Plus".
I have purchased ATI 2013 - new licence, not an upgrade - and wish to install it. The installation immediately fails with the error:

"Cannot remove the following components, because they were installed for the current user only: Plus Pack for Acronis True Image Home 2011 (version 14.0.6942). Please uninstall then manually and try again."

My problem is that I see no way to uninstall the Plus Pack. There's nothing in the Start menu and nothing in Control Panel>Programs and Features that specifically references the Plus Pack.

So, I went ahead and uninstalled ATI Home 2011, thinking this might remove the Plus Pack as well. It does not.

So, I am still unable to install the 2013 version.

Help!

I came across this forum thread: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/14584
Anton's first entry points me to a clean up utility (http://kb.acronis.com/content/14871) but when I access it I get an "Access Denied" error.

Tradewind25,

The Plus Pack should be listed under P in Windows Add/Remove programs, so check there.

The other solution is to run the PlusPack installer again and see if it now offers you an uninstall option. You might have to reinstall 2011 if the PP installer complains about no True Image product installed.

Failing that, it will be a case of running the Acronis cleaner, rebooting and then installing 2013. Note, if you have Acronis Disk Director or other programs from Acronis they will be disabled by running the cleaner and you will need to run their installers again.

The cleaner is found at http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876 - read the instructiosn carefully.

Many thanks for your prompt response.
Found the Plus Pack in Control Panel under "P", as you suggested. I, of course was only looking under "Acronis" . :-(

Happy New Year

Dear ACRONIS,

after now two days of trying to fix this problem I give up. I have tried what asked above and what'S asked in http://kb.acronis.com/content/34876 used the old removal tool "true_image_home_cleanup.exe" as well as the new one of the above article, of course I tried several times to deinstall/reinstall TIH2011 with windows tools and cleand all kinds of Registry Entries ..... etc, etc.

Meanwhile by all this installation/rinstallation/repair/deinstallations procedures including the CLEANUP I am not able to completly deinstall TIH2011. After desinstallion with cleanup tool reboot and try to install again, the installation routine only offers me to Modify-Repair-Deinstall (eventhough it was deinstalled already!!!???) ...ok I clicked REPAIR and TIH2011 works again, but it's not right. OF course the problem of unability to install PP persists telling me that the old version of PP was not removable.

I need to get this installed ...

Please provide a solution how I get the PlusPack installed.

Thanks in advance for looking into this
BR
Georg

Georg,

Are you logged in as the same user with the same privileges as you were when you installed True Image?
