Windows 8 - Can I restore a BIOS system backup to UEFI system?

Thread needs solution

If I use True Image 2013 to do an image of my laptop hard drive on a BIOS-based system running Windows 8 x64, can I restore that to a UEFI-based system?

I have a couple of scenarios to consider:
1. I have one UEFI-capable system that I'd like to switch from BIOS to UEFI, but this normally requires reinstalling the OS, which would be a huge bother.

2. I have one older system that I'd like to replace with a new one that would be UEFI-capable.

Do these work with Universal Restore? I have looked at how to restore to dissimilar hardware, but it's not clear on this point. Acronis Backup & Recovery is more explicit that it can do this.

I have a feeling it may not be straight forward, I think that there are some system files that are different between a BIOS install and a UEFI one. There is also the ESP partition which is required for an EFI based system.

This can be made using DiskPart (must be 200MB in size and FAT32 formatted), but the MBR also has to have different entries to those of a legacy drive.
