Acronis rescue disk does not recognize RAID array

Thread needs solution

I have recently purchased an AMD FM2 board with the AMD A85X Hudson D4 Chipset. I have set up with a RAID1 but Acronis rescue disk does not see the RAID. It sees the individual drives and if either of them are selected, it shows no data on them and says they need to be formatted. Will there be support for this new RAID controller any time soon?

The standard Acronis Rescue Media is Linux based and contains support for many chip sets, but not all. As new chip sets emerge, some are supported with basic Linux drivers and some are not. The only sure way to maintain support for the newer chip sets is to have the optional Plus Pack for 2013 and create Windows based WinPE Acronis Recovery Media. Custom additional drivers can be added to the base Windows image to support any current and future hardware you may purchase.
Future versions of the 2013 standard Linux Rescue Media may or may not support your current chip set.
I would contact Acronis directly, and open a recovery support case to see what solution they can offer you with the current release. Your issue should be approached as a recovery issue, because those issues are supported at no charge. They may be able to provide you with working Rescue Media that supports your current chip set, but it may take some time for them to be able to help you.
I always purchase the optional Plus Pack just so I can create custom WinPE Rescue Media to work with any hardware I may purchase or already own. The extra investment in this option is highly recommended.

I am in the same situation with a Satellite Pro Notebook (very common an widely spread Intel chipset) where the NIC is not recognised by the Acronis TI 2013 Recovery Medium. After opening a Support case the only recommendation was to PRODUCE a WinPE-Bootdisk myself. When doing a full backup to a Linkstation RAID1 the backup is automatically split in 49!-files at 2GB. There is no way to prevent ATI from splitting....
Very poor solution for users who prefer taking backups with boot-medium instead of installing ATI in Windows.

@James F:
Thank you for your response and I figured that would be the solution but wanted to be sure there wasnt maybe a patch update out there I didnt know about. I am a little hesitant about buying further products from Acronis as last time I called for support I was told I had to pay for it (the support) not but a few months after I bought it. I was furious. That problem I called in about was never resolved so I just dealt with it. Thank you for your time and response.

Sincerely,

@Matthias,

ATIO will split the archive files when the destination disk is formatted in FAT or FAT32. It has to. If your destination is formatted NTFS, then splitting might be set in the backup otpions.

Hi Pat L

The file system on a buffalo NAS Raid 1 is XFS (Standard from Buffalo). Normally it is not a problem to copy files of more than 5 GB each from Windows to the Raid. Why shoult this be a problem for WinPE (Windows 7)???

Matthias,

It is possible that you are connecting to the NAS using ftp while booted to the Rescue Media. If that is the case, in order to be able to restore properly using Acronis True Image, the maximum file size is 2GB each for the split .tib backup files. It is possible that True Image is doing this automatically to preserve the ability for proper restores from the NAS. XFS file system file size limitations can be set the manufacturer of the device hosting the XFS formatted storage media, but should allow extremely large files.
