Will True Image and Plus pack work to recover XP to new hardware

Thread needs solution

A relative has a home office PC running XP SP2. They live in fear that the PC will die; motherboard, Video card, CPU, and such. They have asked me to assemble a backup PC that they can just transfer their hard drive into and the can just boot up and run. The PC is a vintage 2006 component machine - ASUS MB, DDR2 RAM, Intel Core Duo - all of which can not be bought new today! With the exception of some special serial port PCI card. At first I thought I would buy used replacements, but I have had mixed success in the past with these.
Then I remembered that Acronis had a special option to restore to dissimilar hardware with it's Plus pack. What I want to do is install Acronis True Image 2013 on the XP SP2 PC. Periodically create an Image. At some time do a stand alone restore of that Image to another PC, one that has totally new hardware - Intel i3, DDR3 RAM, new HD and modern MB - and be running on the new hardware within a short time.
Is what I want to do feasible with Acronis products?

Maybe,

The big issue here is whether there are Windows XP drivers for the new target hardware. Not all manufacturers are supplying Windows XP hardware drivers for the new systems. Windows XP support is set to be discontinued by Microsoft in 2014, and many manufacturers have already stopped developing drivers for newer hardware.

If you already have the "new" system, and want to see if Windows XP can be supported, you would need to check with the manufacturer and see if they still provide Windows XP drivers.

Additionally/alternatively, you could try and install Windows XP on the "new" system to see what drivers you would need to complete a standard install, and obtain them for use with Acronis Universal Restore
