What Network Shared Filesystems Does TI 2013 Nonstop Backup Support?

Thread needs solution

Will TI 3013 Nonstop Backup work properly to an ext3 filesystem managed by Samba on Linux? Preliminary testing suggests no problems with the initial backup, subsequent backups of modified (closed) files and restores. However, the documentation implies that Nonstop Backup requres an NTFS filesystem. Samba supports NTFS with some limitations but setup appears to be a bit of a hassle.

I don't know the answer to your question, though if it is working for you...... All I can say is that NSB is defintely designed to work only on NTFS formats.

Userguide says that storage must be either local NTFS disk or SMB share :

>Can I set up Acronis Nonstop Backup storage on a network share or NAS? - Yes, Acronis Nonstop Backup supports network shares, mapped drives, NAS and other network attached devices with one limitation - they must use the SMB protocol.

In this case underlying filesystem doesn't matter as long as is comply with SMB protocol.

Colin B/dev-anon, thanks for responding. The reason I asked is that I had some issues with NonStop backup. I have since confirmed that these issues also occur with a directly-attached NTFS disk, so it appears that the 'complies with SMB protocol' overrides the NTFS requirement stated elsewhere.
