Differential backup file naming

Thread needs solution

Below are file names for my backups sorted in date order. I have the operation scheduled upon system shutdown, once a day only. Backup method differential/ create a full version every 6 differential versions/ store no more than 3 version chains. I am struggling to understand how this is working. In particular, why b1_s1_v1 through to b1_s7-v1 when specify to create a full version every 6 diffs. And why, having created a fullbak b2_s1_v1 and diff_b2_s2_v1, does it revert to b1 for b1_s8_v1 and on?

FullBak_full_b1_s1_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s2_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s3_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s4_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s5_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s6_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s7_v1.tib
FullBak_full_b2_s1_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b2_s2_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s8_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s9_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s10_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s11_v1.tib
FullBak_diff_b1_s12_v1.tib

Did you edit your backup settings during the course of the backup chain?

At any rate, you should delete your backup task and recreate a new one. Before deleting the task, feel free to move manually the existing backup files to some hidden directory on the same disk so that you don't lose your backups, and so that ATi doesn't rediscover them.

Thanks Pat L - I don't think I edited my settings but if that can cause this then I must suppose I did.
