Recovered OS "Operating System Loading..." Nothing Happens, No Error Message
System: Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
TI SeagateDiskWizard v. 8 and 14
I've been a long time user of TI (started with v.9) upgraded twice but with Acronis Home 2011 (I moved to a 64-bit system), I abandoned using it due to how the Flash or Java-based interface somehow messed with functionality. So I have been using the Seagate DisckWizard (v.8) and was pleased with it. Simpler, less bloat, more control.
But...
I found that the restored version of my OS on what I call my emergency drive was really, really slow on booting up so decided to replace it with a newer TI backup (only the C:\ OS partition, not the second partition which is just for files). I've done extensive tests on the destination drive/s (long tests, written 0s to wipe it clean, etc. and according to the WD Diagnostics, it's fine.
As subject line suggests, all I get is the DOS "Operating System Loading..." with blinking cursor and that's it. It just stays there and there is no disk activity (LED light is dark).
I've tried on a SATA II drive and even on an ATA with older ribbon interface. I tried using my on-floppy disk "Acronis MBR Fix" but it didn't work; this could be that my system is now a 64-bit and that floppy was created when I had my 32-bit XP system.
In the past, I would use my emergency drive to do the restores to my original OS, but I don't have an emergency drive any more now. I REALLY don't like not having one.
I burned the Rescue version of TI on to a DVD, tried the restore to the emergency drive from there instead of from my OS's version of TI, it said it was successful, but it's not (just stays on "Operating System Loading..." In short, be it through the "virtual" (DVD/CD) version of TI or from the OS, same result.
This cannot be a 64-bit vs. 32-bit problem for I had a working emergency copy of my Win7 64-bit created with DiskWizard TI v.8. But the strange thing is that my "virtual" on-DVD version burned through v.14 is actually a v.8. Why, I don't know. Maybe because I didn't uninstall v.8 (I put v.14 in its own Program Files directory under Seagate).
What is causing this problem of not getting to my recovered OS and how do I fix it?
Thank you.
