Online Backup Server Not Available

Thread needs solution

I have a 30Mbps up/down connection (tests at 28-29Mbps both directions) and Online Backups have always been painfully slow. The last several attempts have resulted in error messages that the "Data Server is Unavailable". This has happened in the past, but not for several months, but now it happens everytime I attempt a backup. All other aspects of my internet connection, etc., work fine. Has anyone been able to make this Acronis Online Backup work effectively? There is no support unless I pay a fee, which seems unreasonable considering I'm already paying a fee for a service that doesn't really work. I need an honest answer from someone regarding the viability of the Acronis Online Backup. If I can't get this resolved, I will need to move on.

In my experience:
(a) the upload speeds are always pretty slow (see (d) below to build up your initial backup)
(b) however the system does work...... but not always first time (server availability variable and no messages to say if this is happening due to outages)
(c) I had problems backing up MS Outlook email files (when I removed these the online backups ran more reliably)
(d) it can be worth doing your online backups in stages (i.e. just select a few files at a time and add them then repeat with further files, etc.) You will still end up with all the files on your backup but it is sometimes more reliable that way.

It's not a brilliant service but I still use it as it provides quite a large capacity for the money. I do NOT rely on this however for all my needs. Instead I use it to supplement my local backup.
