External 3TB USB drive partitions not recognized for image destination
I have a new seagate 3TB USB external hard drive for storing my internal hard drive image. When choosing backup, acronis sees the drive as Disk2. When I try to image my internal hard drive (Disk1) I cannot choose a destination folder on the external drive because acronis does not detect any partitions on it. I can access the usb drive from windows and create files and folders on it.
I am running acronis from a bootable CD, as usual. Using Win7 Prof. 64bit
Is 3TB supported for a destination? Will a different brand of USB drive give a different result? Any suggestions?

Gary,
If you have a single partition on the 3TB disk, it will not have a regular MBR for ATI to recognize the partitions

YOu have to format the drive so that no partition exceeds 2TB.

I have a external 3TB Hitachi HD for backup. It is formatted as GPT with 2 1.5TB partitions and still Acronis shuts down when attempting to program to it. I am using Home 2010.
Do I need to reformat the drive to MBR with 1.5 partitions for it to work?
MY WIN7 OS recognizes the partitions and I can swap files from the Computer HDs to the external 3TB and visa/versa.

Sorry for the repost.
I didn't write that I am using eSata connections that work with Acronis on my all my 1TB external backup drives

Larry,
If ATI doesn't work with a 3TB disk partitioned in less than 2 GB partitions, you won't be able to fix it by reformatting the drive, or you would lose 1GB on it.
Maybe you should try 2011 + Plus Pack or wait for 2012... Either way, before you upgrade, backup your system somehow, uninstall 2010, reboot and install the new trial.

I have Acronis 2013 and Plus. Have a Seagate Flex 3 TB Drive. I was using it OK to BU with Acronis 2013
The drive went and after a struggle I got in and formatted it to GPT. Now, I cannot use Acronis with the drive.
Forgot: Win 7-64 8 GB RAM.

Are you using the latest build 6514 of TrueImage 2013. It does support 3 tb and GPT disks.
You will definietly need to create new tasks for it to be used for backups as the disk signature is different than what created the old backups.
Please expand on "I cannot use Acronis with the drive."

I have 6514. Formatting the 3 TB is a mess. Sometimes in comes out GPT and others
Bytes Cluster could be 4096 or 32748. I cannot find exactly what it should be formatted and how. I only have one partition.
Originally, the drive stopped working by Ubuntu. I had a terrible time extracting all the files to another
disk. I have been on this about a week. I think it all goes back to me installing Ubuntu for a side/by/side installation. Impossible to easy remove. I think it still affects my system.
