Acronis vmProtect 9 has been launched
Dear Acronis Customers,
We would like to introduce Acronis® vmProtect™ 9 which is the next version of our extremely easy to deploy and use solution for backup and recovery of VMware vSphere. Version 9 includes many new features such as:
- Application-aware Single-pass VM Backup! In addition to previously available Exchange granular recovery , vmProtect 9 adds application-aware, single-pass, agent-less VM backup and recovery for:
∙ Microsoft SQL Server – down to individual databases
∙ Microsoft SharePoint Server – down to individual documents and items
∙ Microsoft Active Directory – ensuring full Domain Controller recoverability
- Management Dashboard! A simple web dashboard displays the status of multiple vmProtect installations.
- Configuration Restore! Save and restore vmProtect configuration to enable complete protection.
In addition, we fixed many issues and implemented several improvements suggested by our customers. Before you install the product, please carefully read the"Installation notes" and "Known issues" sections of the release notes.
Acronis vmProtect 9 is available here: http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/vmprotect/
The list of Acronis vmProtect 9 Beta program winners will be announced later (within 2 weeks).

Hi ece,
JFYI: Though it's may be too late already - the scenarios you describe are indeed not covered by Acronis vmProtect (which is pure vStorage API-based solution and thus it physically cannot support physical RDM drives), however we do have solution for them: Acronis Backup and Recovery 11.5 including Exchange add-on (the agent is installed inside the VM and it is backed up like any standard machine).
Thank you.

Thanks, Vasily. It would be nice to have one fully integrated backup solution, with one centralized GUI/management console. I was always a supporter of Acronis, but hands down... The mentioned solution from the other vendor offers exactly this. :(

Ben, thanks for the comment. Can you elaborate how your post/suggestion would help in this case? How would you back up the data, if VMP does not support it?
