UEFI and Legacy in Windows 8
My CMOS is presently set up to use Legacy.
1. When I generate a Bootable Rescue Media USB and then go to test it two boot entries appear
in the firmware to select booting from the USB.
One is UEFI, and the other is the legacy form.
-am I correct in assuming that the using the legacy form will leave the system with MBR disks etc;
and that using UEFI would convert the drives to GPT and so on.
2. Is there a utility that can scan the system and find if there is anything that is not UEFI compatible.
3. Is Secure Boot a separate step or does a conversion to UEFI do that at the same time, or does the operating system look after Secure Boot.
4. I have several pieces of activated software (from Adobe and others) going through deactivation/activation steps for each of these is getting monotonous.
5. I am about to change my boot drive to an SSD, the answer to (1) will effect that too.

Colin, thanks for the reply.
At least some of the Trueimage 2014 documentation suggests that booting the system in UEFI with the Bootable Rescue USB will result in MBR disks being converted to GPT disks. What I am looking for is clear assurance that I have to choose to convert to UEFI rather than the TI software during restore.
I really do not want to do that till I am sure. For example I have heard that some Motherboards block the control of some the fans when in UEFI mode rather than in BIOS mode. Probably just coding version issues with the firmware supplier but I would rather not end up there.
Also if I can go to UEFI without changing to GPT then I would prefer that for now.
Thanks for the heads up about restoring the disk signature, in the past I have used clone where as I recall it was auto magic no need to even think of the GUID.
