update acronis true image 10 home

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have an acronis true image 10 home version on my desktop using windows WP pro. I bought a new laptop with windows 8. I intalled my old version of acronis TI10H on the new laptop but it says that this acronic version is not compatible with my new Pc. What should I do? Download directly the latest update or should I first get the older updates since my version 10? And where to find those updates on the website?

Then another question: is it possible to restore my backups created on my XP PRO PC on my new Windows 8 laptop or can they only be restored on a XP PRO OS?

Thanks

Bozambo

So, did you actually install it and then it failed, or did you receive the warning and cancel as soon as you started the installer?

ATI 10 is seven years old, does not even support Windows 7. There is no point updating it for use on a new Win8 PC. Buy ATI 2014. You may qualify for an upgrade discount.

At Acronis.com, create an account and register your new serial number. That allows you always to download the latest update to whatever version you purchased

When you go to install ATI 2014, do not install ATI 10. If you get an upgrade price, you'll just have to enter the serial number for ATI 10 in addition to the one for ATI 2014.

You would not want to restore an entire disk (including OS) backup to the new PC, as that would wipe out Win8 and make it XP. You can restore your user data files.

If your problems continue, you might need to consider restoring your laptpop back to factory fresh condition--assuming that you hve a recovery partition which came with the computer. Review your user manual or help file if you need to invoke this option.
