Built-in Store?

Thread needs solution

Just upgraded from ATIH 2014 b5560 to 2014 b6614 (Update 1) on a W7 Home Premium 32-bit machine. ATIH is full version, but not premium.

Wondering if anybody has success with the "Built-in Windows Store" icon?? (top-right, left of Settings gear-wheel). Looks like a shopping bag with an Acronis icon on it (unlike the trolley depicted in the online docs).

Whenever I click it, I just get a "Check your internet connection and try again." message in the window that pops up (after a few seconds of an animation).

Should this work? I'm in Canada, don't know if it should work in all regions/territories??

I have no special firewall rules/blockages/filtering going on.

FYI, I am not "signed in" in the app either, as I do not use any online backup.

Isn't there one single ATIH 2014 b6614 user (or Acronis rep) out there that can comment on the behaviour of this button on their system??

FYI, I upgraded my x64 ATIH install to b6614 and unsurprisingly get the same behaviour on that.

When I open the icon, there is a delay and this window opens.

As I do not use the cloud, this window is not relevant to me.

No other choices listed.

Hmm - thanks GroverH

well that's already different from mine, although the content looks somewhat incomplete too...

The attached is precisely all I see.

This could be a firewall issue. Can you temporarily disable your AV and firewall?
Another option at top right is the check for updates which requires access to the web.
Does the check for updates work?

Nah, firewall is wide open and no AV but MSE.

For kicks I fired up Wireshark.
I can see the URL the window is repeatedly trying to grab.

It is of the form:

http://www.acronis.com/inapp/home/ati/index.html?build=6614&distributor…

(gaID and iid1 changed for anonymity here since I don't know what they represent)

curiously, if I copy and paste the URL into my browser, it only works if I change "language=1" to another value, e.g. "language=2" (then I see a German page) - other values give other languages

so there's obviously a problem somehow with the generated URL having language=1
(in fact, removing the language value altogether just gives me the English page I would expect to see)
see attachment for the English page that renders in my browser when I edit the URL as described

weird (and broken).

Any comment from Acronis as to why this URL doesn't work or what the current situation with the Built-in Store button is/should-be?

Hello Mark,

sorry for the delay with answer.

Could you please send me via PM a full link (without editing) and your login details?
I'll forward it to the responsible team and please be sure we get the problem solved very soon.

Thank you.

Current experimentation on my side hints at a never-ending server-side redirect... Let's see what they can find out.

Hello Mark,

please check if the link works now.

Thank you.

seems like a server-side fix has worked!
the original link works well now, both with the URL outside the app (in the IE browser), and inside the app via the Store button

Hello Mark,

glad to hear it!

Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
