Online backup is EXTREMELY slow

Thread needs solution

I am trying to back up my C: drive on my HP laptop. When I start the process, the progress window appears and then, after calculating, it says "time remaining: 22 days 17 hours 12 minutes." I've tried letting it run, but after a very long time (hours) there is almost no progress and then the operation stops and I get an error message that says the backup was interrupted. Any one have any suggestions? I have attached a screen cap of the progress window.

Your initial online backup may well take many, many days. You are trying to back up 88.08 GB of data and your upload speed is 305Kbit/s. Since your upload speed is very limited, I would suggest that you only backup critical files to the cloud.

If your internet connection is not stable, you could have disconnects that account for the backup stopping. Can you restart the backup after it is interrupted? What type of internet connectivity do you have? Is it wired or wireless, DSL, Cable, Satellite, etc.?

Here is an excellent data transfer rate calculater: http://www.calctool.org/CALC/prof/computing/transfer_time
Plugging your numbers into it, reveals 26 days as the time it would take to back up your data at 305Kbp/s.

I am having a similar slow experience. Noting some of the other postings, some say they don't have the fastest available connection. I don't have the fastest Verizon FIOS but I do have the 25 / 25 plan.

When I noted the slow backup, I tried a transfer to a family member's computer. He has a fairly fast connection. Using GoodSync, I transferred a 5 GB file in under an hour which I calculate to be over 15 Mbits/ sec. This was while Acronis online was plodding along at 400 KBits/sec. In fact, could not tell that the simultaneous GoodSync transfer even slowed down the Acronis backup.

My hardware is not bleeding edge but probably in the fastest few percent (dual quad-core Xeons with 30 GB RAM, 11 Disk RAID).

I'm in the same boat. The back is not too bad as I have a 50 MB connection, but trying to access the actual data online is painful. The loading cloud just spins for 5-10 minutes and then hopefully the next page will load. What is the point in using this cloud if you can't even access it. I am extremely disappointed in this service and will most likely cancel my service if it does not change. Any ideas on what the issues are other than Acronis provided cloud services without having a good backbone in place?
