Cloning to a Partition

Thread needs solution

Greetings,

I am using True Image Premium 2014.

I have two physical hard drives in my system:

DISK 0 - 1TB, Multiple partitions

DISK 1 - 2TB. Two equal partitions. This disk was purchased solely for cloning DISK 0 to.

When I try and Clone Disk 0 to Disk 1, it wants to wipe the partitions. Not good....

How can I clone such that Disk 0 will clone to one of the two partitions I have on Disk 1?

Thanks.

You cannot clone a partition to another one. Clone operations are for complete disks. The clone of a disk is a disk.
If you want to transfer all data from disk 0 to disk 1, partition 1, and if disk 0 if your system disk you have 2 cases:

a) your disk 0 has hidden partitions. The easiest way would be:
- backup partition 2 of disk 1 to some other USB disk, then
- use the Acronis recovery CD to clone disk0 onto disk1
- disconnect disk0, put disk1 on the same connector,
- reboot the computer,
- use Windows disk management or some partitioning software to shrink partition 1 and create partition 2
- restore the data on partition 2
There are more complicated ways to do this (without backing up partition 2 of disk 1), but since you should back it up anyway for safety, I think this is the best option.

b) your disk 0 has only one partition (no hidden partition)
- backup disk 0 to some USB disk,
- remove disk 0, put disk 1 instead,
- boot on the recovery CD,
- recover the backup onto the partiion 1 of disk1
- reboot the computer.
