Unable to clone system drive

Thread needs solution

I'm running Windows 8 Pro and Acronis TI 2014. I try to clone my system drive. Acronis 2014 says it needs to reboot to perform this operation. I say OK. During reboot I see MBR Error 3 and it never tries to clone my system drive. I booted using my original Windows 8 Pro DVD and selected advanced troubleshooting and command prompt. Ran bootrec /fixmbr and it fixed the MBR Error 3 that Acronis 2014 created. What is causing this problem?

Do no start a clone operation from tWindows. Do it from the Acronis recovery CD. When you start from Windows, Acronis rewrites the MBR code to reboot into a pre-Windows Linux based environment. That modifies the MBR as you can see and can create some issues.
