Cannot recover previous dates of data
I am using Acronis 12 Full Version and Windows 7 Home Premium
I am unable to recover any data from previous dates. When I select a date as an example Nov 20, 2013 the software shows it is 'Not Responding' and never opens that specific date so I can recover data.
Please advise any suggestion and thank you in advance for your assistance

When I selected today's backup to restore I received an error message which I have saved as an attachment to this message. I checked by backups and they are all on my external hardrive. Verified the backup portion of the software is functioning correctly.
Please review the error messages and perhaps from the attachment it would give you more insight.
Thanks,
HankL

That message is telling you to click the offered browse option and browse into the actual storage folder and select the specific *.tib file which is at issue--which appears to be the first backup.
If the target disk is an external disk, then it will need to be attached when doing the browsing.
If the Seagate is the target, how is Seagate attached or accessed such as direct usb or network, etc.

Thank you for your reply. Due to medical issue I was unable to get back to you sooner.
I am aware of the 'Browse Button and how it works". However, if you will see my attachment to this message it does not allow me to open 'Computer" to be able to get to my external hardrive where my backup files are located. It just locks up as per attachment shows.
I have a question: Can I create a new backup file and still be able to get to my backup files from the one that is locked up? The name of the one that is locked is called 'Office Daily Backup'
Just to let you know I also have another backup file called "Office Quicken Daily Backup" and that works perfectly OK. Apparently, the Acronis software is functioning correctly.
Sure hope I can get to my files as I need a specific recovery date quite badly.
Thanks for your knowledge and help

Try a couple things.
1. With TI closed, go the the storage folder (using Windows Explorer) of the backup files and double click on the tib file name which you want to use.
Does the file opten for access.
Also,
your captures each time shows the error message.
Open TrueImage.
Click the browse for backupoption.
Can you get to the file.
If needed , double click on "computer"
Are you making regular current backups of the entire disk so you could recover your entire disk in case of disk failure or a virus or if needed? If yes, that would be another access to any and all your files.
Note support for Windows 7 began with version 2010.

Thank you for your quick response.
1.Acronis software is closed. I went to the storage folder which is located on H:\ using My Computer. I then selected the folder called 'Office Daily Backups'. This is where I store my daily backup .tib files. I selected the specific .tib file that I need to restore. I then right clicked and selected open. It then opens Acronis on the Home page. I selected Recover data. A dialog box opened and said 'Choose Backup'. It shows the three lines of backups I use. (Attachment 1) However it would not let me select any of them. It did allow me to open Browse for backup. . I then selected Browse for backup button. I selected H:\ drive and saw my folders.(Attachment 2) I then selected Office Daily Backups. It opened folder of my daily backup files.(Picture attached) I selected the file name I need to restore and it said Add to backup list.((Attachment 3)
2. When I select Browse for Backup it opens right up to my H:\ drive and shows all of my folders and specifically my Office Daily Backjup files which are current up to todays Daily Backup file Date 12/21/2013.(Attachment 4)
I hope all of the above will help. Again, if I created a new line for backup and restore would I be able to get to my backup files that already exist.
Many thanks again

Richard,
Note that version 2009 does not support Windows 7.

If I am understanding correctly, your screen shots show you having over 325 incrmental Office Daily Backups based on the same single full backup.

If count true, this is very risky as all must be present and readable and without errors in order for you to restore the most recent.
You would be much safer if you were to set up your task for more frequent full backups. Refer link 2 below and look at illustrations 11-Inc insdie that link. Illustration 11-Inc shows how to set up a revolving automtic cleanup after a certain number of backups. If you are doing daily backups, the very longest I would go between another full backup would be after 14 incrementals or every two weeks a new full for this particular task.
The problem you appear to be having could be that one of the 325 files are either missing or corrupt and that is preventing from being read.
Use the validate option and choose the most recent backup of the 325 in which to perform the validation. this will check all 325 for readabiltiy.

Perhaps this may all be happening because recently I deleted all of my 2012 .tib files because I needed to make space available on my external hard drive.
As for time intervals of full backups, I have scheduled a full backup each and every week.
Is there anything I can do to be able to recover existing files for the "Daily Backup Files" (these are done daily)?
Thank you
HankL

Just so you would have a better understanding of my scheduled backups, I created separate folders in my external backup drive for the following:
DAILY BACKUPS These are done everyday
FULL BACKUPS These are done weekly
Should my daily backups be done directly into my FULL BACKS
I AM A LITTLE CONFUSED.

Should my daily backups be done directly into my FULL BACK
All files from a single task should be stored on one single folder as they are related and form a chain.
Thus, if you have 3 different backup tasks listed on your main GUI, if you follow my recommendations, each task would have its own storage folder or sub folder, such as
My Backup folder might be the main name of storage folder.
Then inside "my backup folder" would be a listing of several more sub-folders and each sub-folder would be a different task.
-----------------------------
I created separate folders in my external backup drive for the following:DAILY BACKUPS These are done everyday
FULL BACKUPS These are done weekly
Are you talking about future backups or did you move old backups? If you moved old backups, what method did you use to move those? Did you use the programs "move" option or did you use Windows Explore "move"option? Now I am confused.
-------------------------------------
Is there anything I can do to be able to recover existing files for the "Daily Backup Files" (these are done daily)?
Examine each group and see how they are numbered. These need to be numbered sequenntially from 1 to X. What type backups are these? Is each one a full backup?
or, do you have one full plus a lot of incrementals? Perhaps a screen capture of your storage folder with its contents sorted in date sequence.

The mechanics of using Acronis is extremely confusing to me as a rather novice with the way Aronis works. I have attached 3 attachments for your review.
My main goal at this time is to be able to RESTORE any of my DAILY BACKUPS if it is at all possible.
I attached a view of my folders in my external drive H:\
Also, attached my FULL BACKUP files
And attached my DAILY BACKUP files.
I hope with your knowledge of this application you will be able to instruct me as to a detailed easy to follow instructions as to how I can RECOVER any of my DAILY BACKUPS
Many thanks in advance for your patience and assistance

In your Daily Backups folder, the file jumps from 1 to the next file is 92.
Is the 2 thru 91 the files you deleted?
I believe your very best chance would be to get another disk and consider this a test disk.
Then try using Acronis and restoring some of your backup onto the the new test disk.
If they restore, you could ten load this into Quicken for verification.
Just me looking is no test.
Any backup file you might want to restore should have validation performed.
Try validating the #92 but I suspect it will fail.
You do not mention whether you have any backup of our entire computer. You mention full backups weekly but I don't know whether these full backups are full file backups or full partition backups or full disk backups.
What boxes do you check to be included within the backup? Are you putting a checkmrk beside disk1 so all the partitions below disk 1 are included?
