Installer won't accept my licenses

Thread needs solution

I just bought an upgrade to Workstation 11.5 Advanced (w/ Universal Restore and dedup options).

I previously had (non-Advanced) 11.5 with Universal restore on my machine (this was an update from 10 Advanced Workstation with Universal Restore).

My machine is running Win7 Ultimate x64. I uninstalled 11.5 (non-Advanced yesterday) to test an alternate backup product. Now I'm trying to run the webinstall for 11.5 advanced. I've put in all the serial numbers downloaded from "My Profile" into the installer. It's telling me I can't use any of my licenses and thus any of my upgrade licenses on my machine (screenshot attached).

How do I get 11.5 Advanced to install? I really hope that I don't have to re-install 10, then 11 before I can do the upgrade to 11.5 advanced.

The web installer version is 11.5.0.38350.

Advanced and non-Advanced can't be combined in any way - not sure how it was possible to upgrade from 10 advanced to 11.5 non-Advanced. Anyway, you seem to have two licenses that will allow you to install 11.5 Advanced - 11.5 Advanced Workstation Upgrade and 10 Advanced Worlkstation. Try to leave only these two in the licenses windows.

I think I may see what's going on. It appears that I actually originally had 10 (non-Advanced) with Universal Restore (and not 10 Advanced as I originally thought).

Anyway, when I read through the website, I understood that I could upgrade to 11.5 Advanced from a prior Advanced or non-Advanced version, so I paid for the upgrade rather than a brand new version. The upgrade I bought was $112.24 (including de-dup and universal restore). A brand new Advanced version would have been $135 (also including de-dup and universal restore). The prices for an upgrade and brand new version are so close it seemed reasonable to me that I would be able to able to upgrade from non-Advanced to Advanced.

So, what's the best way to change this for the correct license?

According to the screenshot , you do have the license for 10 Advanced Workstation. So you can combine it with 11.5 Advanced Upgrade (base license) and buy full Deduplication and Universal Restore addon licenses separately (after that you can refund upgrade licenses for UR and Dedup ).

I think there's actually a bug in the installer (which has added to the confusion). When I try to use the full set of license keys downloaded from my account (actual values removed):

Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced Workstation Deduplication Upgrade (English)
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced Workstation Universal Restore Upgrade (English)
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced Workstation Upgrade (English)
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Workstation Upgrade (English)
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 Workstation Universal Restore Upgrade (English)
Acronis Backup&Recovery Workstation Universal Restore (English)
Acronis Backup&Recovery Workstation (English)
Acronis Backup&Recovery Workstation Trial (English)
Acronis Backup&Recovery Advanced Workstation Trial (English)

... I see the screenshot in my first post in this thread. However, when I restart the install without the trial licenses, I get what you see in the screenshot attached to this post (no Workstation 10 Advanced license). The inclusion of the trial licenses seems to make the installer think I have a Workstation 10 Advanced license even though I actually don't.

If I just try the licenses without the trial licenses, and without restarting the installer, it continues to claim I have a Workstation 10 Advanced license even though I don't - I have to restart the install and not use include the trial licenses at all to get the installer to figure out the correct licenses.

So apparently I don't have what I need to upgrade. How can I get a refund for the upgrade I bought? Once I have the refund, I'll just purchase 11.5 Workstation Advanced full version with the Universal Restore and dedup options.

PS: Why is the installer saying that I can't use the Workstation 10 license on my current machine? I understand it maybe can't be used for an upgrade to Workstation 11.5 Advanced, but why can't I use it on my machine? I used to have Workstation 10 running on this machine.

http://www.acronis.com/support/contact-us.html . They will request you to buy full version before they refund the upgrade one, not the other way.

>Why is the installer saying that I can't use the Workstation 10 license on my current machine?

Because it's installer of the Advanced edition and can't use Standalone keys.
